Sunway Group founder Tan Sri Jeffrey Cheah has confirmed ten people suffered minor injuries in a roller coaster accident at Sunway Lagoon on Saturday night.

The incident occurred around nine o'clock and involved twenty-two Malaysian and international riders aged between eleven and forty-four.

Cheah expressed deep regret over the accident, noting that authorities are investigating and that police have ruled out foul play.

He suggested that metal fatigue — the weakening of the rollercoaster’s metal components after repeated use — may have caused the failure, despite the ride undergoing a comprehensive inspection and maintenance work just two to three weeks earlier.

Subang Jaya police confirmed the ten minor injuries, though official statements initially withheld the specific name of the theme park.


Footage circulated on social media showed emergency personnel rescuing a passenger from the track area, with police present at the scene.
