The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) disposed of 8.55 million KPJ Healthcare shares a day before the hospital group announced the departure of president and managing director Chin Keat Chyuan.

KPJ shares have since fallen 13.74 per cent over three trading sessions, wiping about RM1.88 billion from its market value.

EPF’s stake has declined to 18.55 per cent from 20.18 per cent at end-July, after months of accumulation and portfolio rebalancing.

Chin, who has led KPJ since September 2023, will step down on Sept 1, with chief medical director Professor Datuk Dr Hanafiah Harunarashid taking charge temporarily.

KPJ said its strategic direction remains unchanged and the group remains focused on executing its plans.
