Water is what creates curl clumps.
Scrunching only works when the hair is wet enough to respond.
If your curls look stringy, limp, or won’t group together, it usually means:
your hair started drying too fast
water never fully soaked into the strands
product was applied to hair that wasn’t evenly wet
Your hair shouldn’t just be misted on the surface.
You want the water pressed into the hair so it actually penetrates.
Healthy hair can repel water, so sometimes you have to slow down and work it in:
wet the hair
press the water in
then scrunch
That’s how curl clumps form.
It’s not about drowning your hair.
It’s about getting it evenly wet before styling starts.
