The video begins with some scenes shot at the east end of the Jing Peng Pass overlooking the small town of Reshui. This is followed by some shunting at an unknown location on the Ji-Tong Line.
Until the line was dieselised in 2005, Daban Loco Depot was probably the last standard gauge main line steam depot in the world. It was always noisy and full of atmosphere. The Ji-Tong line was not part of China Rail but a Provincial Railway in Inner Mongolia that used QJ class locomotives purchased second hand from them. As well as routine maintenance and repair, Daban Depot refurbished ex China Rail QJs for use on the line.
