Join me on another wildcamping adventure. Starting off in the North East town of Sandsend, we take in some seaside views before heading off for a stealth camp. On leaving the town we enjoy a lovely woodland walk on our way to the days first destination, a stunning castle ruins hidden within the forest. With beautiful old windows, arched doors and huge turrets looking out onto the woodland and countryside, a perfect stop off point for a drink and a snack. From there we continue the woodland walk, but this time we are in search of an ancient Victorian folly, an old summer house built in 1856, which now lies in ruins. The bridge we were supposed to cross was no longer there, so we had to walk further down the river to find a crossing point, BUT... this meant going totally off piste, we battled through 7 foot tall grasses, brambles and nettles, got stung and cut, and very nearly lost! Just when we were starting to despair we caught a glimpse of a fence, which we headed towards, and there it was, we finally found the folly we had been searching for. Deep in the woodland, the steps and what remains of the building were overgrown, however there was just enough space for the 4 of us to set up our tents and bivvy, and enjoy a fantastic stealth camp in a cracking location. We cooked food on the fire, made a crumble and had a great laugh before heading to our camouflaged tents for a great night's sleep. In the morning we woke early for breakfast and coffee, and as always left no trace before heading home.
