Following storm Eowyn i was desperate for a summit camp, however there's another storm coming in! To be on the safe side I decided on Barrow, a cheeky little Wainwright at 455 meters. With high winds forecast there was no point taking the drone, which got me wondering if I could get my full winter kit inside my Atompacks EP40 + rucksack. So away went the Osprey, and i managed to squeeze it all in, just! Parking up at Braithwaite, i set off, and very quickly the route gets steep, and the wind is icy cold! The views quickly start to open up beautifully, with Derwent Water and Bassenthwaite looking majestic. On hitting the summit I take the views in, the wind is so cold it gave me a headache. Looking around for a pitch, and there's a problem, it's either soaking wet or rock! Where will i pitch for the night? Once set up, for the first time in ages I've managed to sit outside on my chair and enjoy my food, which was awesome. Before going to bed I discuss adverts, new camera kit, new tents and my plans for this year.
