NASA has unveiled a vibrant new image of the Tarantula Nebula, revealing a spectacular web of gas, dust and young stars 160,000 light-years away. The colourful composite combines X-rays from Chandra with infrared data from the James Webb Space Telescope to expose hidden details of the stellar nursery. Researchers found the Tarantula Nebula may be losing energy as hot gas escapes, while turbulent mixing and heat transfer cool the remaining material.
