Ladies and Gentleman!! This is my GOD WORLD RECORD RUN of Soul Edge Special Weapon Survival Mode Run where i will be using Hwang equipped with the Sword Of Dawn to set an unprecedented Record here on youtube that vastly surpasses my other WR run that i did in 2023 with Sophitia with her Blue Crystal Rod. With her i got 341 Wins in but with Hwang... I got 1020 WINS!!!! Its been awhile since i set another record like this and just before the New Year, i got motivated to attempt to surpass my previous record and boy even i am surprised on how well this run went.
Now as far as strategies with how i went it the run and weapon choice is simple: A Weapon with a Health Healing effect is a must for getting huge win streaks in Survival and Sophitia at the time was the most reliable weapon to pull this off but it had one downside in that while i was pretty much guaranteed to win, the victories were slow as the weapon has a low Power stat so i had to resort to time over strats.
With Hwang however, not only he is a better character viability wise compared to Sophitia but his Sword Of Dawn not only has a very high Defense stat but also very high Power. Below i will compared both the Blue Crystal Rod and the Sword Of Dawn in numbers so you can visualize the difference:
Blue Crystal Rod -
Power: 64.8%
Defense: 145.2% (Highest)
Strength: 25.0%
Durability: 81.2%
Weight: 5 Bars/0.99 Speed
Range: 1.13
Pierce Damage: 0%
Pierce Weakness: 0%
Special Effects: 8% Health Recovery per second
Sword Of Dawn -
Power: 119.9%
Defense: 135.1%
Strength: 56.2%
Durability: 68.7%
Weight: 3 Bars/1.05 Speed
Range: 1.12
Pierce Damage: 10%
Pierce Weakness: 0%
Special Effects: 3% Health Recovery per second
As you can see above the Blue Crystal Rod has more Defense and a higher Health Recovery % but the Sword Of Dawn has way more Power, more Speed and it also has a 10% Pierce Damage which is unique to Healing Weapons as the only other healing weapon with Pierce Damage is Rock's Great Ax. This means not only Hwang will take little damage from even the strongests attacks but he is able to dish it out greatly in return as well. Hwang's almost entire moveset is viable to abuse the AI in Survival and he has access to a really Powerful move with his Forward,Forward A+B which will deal over 50% damage to the opponent on counter hit and its very easy to land it as a counter by exploiting the CPU wake-up timing. Now if the CPU feels cheeky and it happens to greatly damage me in some fights, theres a special exploit that only works in Survival that i can do to heal myself: For some reason the CPU in survival will kinda break if you are crouching and spam A attacks as they will most of the time stand there and either take the hit or Block it. When i am behind i can use this strat to abuse the timer to gradually damage the opponent while i heal myself overtime as the healing for the Sword Of Dawn is much lower compared to the Blue Crystal Rod so i have to be creative. When my Health is at near max and i can play like normal, Hwang really shows just how quickly he can win Survival Matches as at best yo can win in less then 5 seconds per match if the CPU just eats Hwang Down Forward A,A,B which becomes a natural combo with the Sword Of Dawn if the 1st hit gets a Counter and its very exploitable as its a Low, High, Mid with the first 2 swings being Horizontal so side stepping it is impossible. Most of the fights will play out in a very similar manner and after each win for me i devise a better strategy for each individual character. In the end the craziest thing about this run is that i was shooting for about 500 wins but my pace was so consistent and the wins were coming in so fast that i decided to double the ante and man... It felt GREAT at the end... This run with Hwang and the Sword Of Dawn was just so good that i actually had to lose on purpose at the end to put an end at the run because Recording this run and having to fully concentrate for over 5 hours straight with no way to pause the game since its Survival mode was just crazy but man... it was worth it in the end. This is a great way to also start the year 2026 here in the channel and i am really, REALLY happy with the end result. My other reason for ending up going over 1000 wins is because i was also curious if the WIN counter would end up breaking or something... turns out it kinda does XD!!!
This run also really concludes that Rock's Great Ax is just too inconsistent to be able to win reliably thanks to its lower Defense as when a run goes on for so long, BS is gonna happen and it happened ALOT in this run but i shruged everything away ;)
