This video of Soul Edge has been requested by @PrimevalDemon and his request was a run with Taki in her PS1 Costume while using her fast and Defensive but somewhat weak Iron Fan. The run will be completed on Ultra Hard with no continues. Lets take a look below at Taki's Iron Fan stats in numbers:
Iron Fan -
Power: 72.7%
Defense: 125.0%
Strength: 6.2% (Lowest)
Durability: 62.5%
Weight: 2 Bars/1.09 Speed
Range: 0.69
Pierce Damage: 0%
Pierce Weakness: 0%
Special Effects: None
As you can see by the stats, it holds absolutely true to the ingame description of the Iron Fan being a fast defensive weapon having 125.0% Defense coupled with a very good 1.09 Speed. Normally if a weapon already has a high Defense stat then its already a good weapon in its own when it comes to Soul Edge but the Iron Fan is actually the absolute worst of said Defensive weapons for a few reasons: For starters defensive weapons where your Power is lower then 100.0% will typically wont ever be lower then the amount of Defense granted by the weapon but... the Iron Fan gives you a 25.0% buff to Defense but the Power is decreased by 27.3% which means you are dealing ever so slightly less damage than you are able to withstand. Its Durability is below average at 62.5% so it can get broken somewhat easy and typical of some of Taki's weapons, its tied for the shortest reach in the game with a Range modifier of 0.69. Its biggest awful stat however is its Strength which is sitting at the absolute bottom tier of 6.2% which means even Mitsurugi's Murasame which has 6.2% for Durability can block the Iron Fan's hits like its Soul Edge basically. This means that the strat with her Forward A,B,B,B to easily disarm the opponent basically becomes near ineffective. This also means that with the Iron Fan the way you are supposed to play with Taki is the whiff punish game using her movement to quickly get in and out when needed but... Taki is literally not built to play this style very well as she lacks effective range on her moves and the few moves that has is extremely punishable on block. Thankfully its only 2 good stats actually proved to be enough for the weapon to actually work well as the Speed actually makes some of her unsafe moves safe and some will naturally combo without the need for a counter hit. In the end the weapon performed better then i expected and while in the very end its Durability became its biggest weakness as Cervantes and Soul Edge are basically disarming Gods, it still performed much better then her standard weapon so definitely a tier above many of the worst weapons that are actually worse then a standard weapon but still very weak for a Defensive Weapon which are some of the best weapons in the game.
