I look into Sony's model upgrade sickness and talk about how it has got to stop.
I think that Sony has, in the last couple of years, offered so many great cameras and have really blown the market away in so many ways. They have offered some of the greatest full frame mirrorless camera options in the past 5 years and forced the competitors to take notice and watch their game. But they have also encroached on their own market by actually devaluing their own models. The Rx100 line is a perfect example in the sense that it is the 6th iteration on a camera that came out only 6 years ago. MAAAN! Go fugure. By changing a camera model so often and offering specs you not only devalue the value of a last purchase but you also can degrade an inherent value that was on the camera before.
Here is a list of the upgrades that are worth mentioning for photographers
Higher zoom range from the mark 5
24-70 vs 24-200
Closed aperture from the mark 5
f/1.8-2.8 to f/2.8-4.5 (a necessary sacrifice when extending zoom range)
Greater buffer size
233 on the mark6 vs 150 on the mark 5
The mark 6 now offers a touch screen whereas all other models did not.

In the end, these upgrades are far from being enough to go out and make the plunge for this camera for many and a worthwhile upgrade for few and far between
