The Brethren Song & Story Fest, for its 23rd year was held at Camp Myrtlewood in Southern Oregon, where “Brethren Voices" captured some of the passionate musical selections of Bill Jolliff. He has performed at numerous, Song & Story Fest family camps, during the past 23 years. -- Bill Jolliff, during his journey, has been a professor of Literature at George Fox University for nearly 3-decades. He is an active writer and researcher and is much appreciated by his students for his vast knowledge of literature and his humor, which enlightens the classroom.
This "Brethren Voices" program is the second to feature this devoted musician. Bill Jolliff admits that he really likes some of the old Gospel songs. "Sometimes I feel almost bad about how much I like them. There are some good reasons not to like them, but they just sort of suit me." - Bill Jolliff.
When you listen and watch Bill sing, "Tell It To Jesus" and " Near To The Heart of God," you will understand. Should you happen to be a regular viewer of “Brethren Voices,” the theme song, “The Jesus Way,” is one of Bill’s creations.
He grew up in Magnetic Springs, Ohio, and according to Bill, “the springs are actually magnetic.” Jolliff started playing the guitar and banjo with his grandmother when he was 15. During his high school years, he started forming an interest in American literature, especially the works of Robert Frost and John Steinbeck.
Bill's musical interests have carried him for 50 years of his life and we share some of his works and humor in this second, "Brethren Voices” program with Bill Jolliff.
