In this video, Maxx shows us how to do solvent transfers and create a cool effect for props and costumes, or fake spiritual powers and defraud people out of money by using "precipitation mediumship" to create spirit card writings. But no matter how you use this, everyone will want to know how you accomplished it.
You can use many different solvents for this type of transfer, like acetone, mineral spirits, wintergreen oil, goo gone or nail polish remover.
For the image, it will need to be printed or copied on a printer that uses toner only. Or anything like newspapers or old comic books will work as well.
You'll need something round so it doesn't rip the paper you are transfering from, most use a sturdy metal spoon to rub the image.
***If you want the images to be hazy and sort of blurry like in my example, then use a fair amount of solvent, this will disperse the ink more. If you want a cleaner, sharper image, only use small amounts of the solvent and work slower.***
Once the project is dry and completed, the smell from the solvent should dissipate and I suggest using a clear coat spray paint or something along those lines to seal the image in, especially if you intend to wash it. Keep in mind if you do not wash it, the piece you made will now likely be much more flammable, especially if using acetone. So, be warned and be safe!
I hope you enjoy this technique and if you make anything yourself, please tag me on social media @larpmix or send me an email so I can see how it looks. Get creative with it and adventure on!Please Like, Comment, Subscribe and Share my videos!
