In this video, Maxx shows you how to make his vegan Post-Apocalyptic Cake aka "Depression Cake" aka "Wacky Cake" aka whatever you want to call it cake.

*There are some loud noises in the video, be mindful if that bothers you or you're listening on headphones.*

This is a very simple historical cake from that is simple and cheap to make, vegan, lactose-free and very versatile. It should be a fit at many different genres and types of larps and festivals, but lends itself very well to Post-Apocalyptic games. You can totally just make this at home, college/university, camp, et cetera for a simple everyday cake experience.

All you need to make this cake is;

1 Apocalypse (baker's choice)
1.5 cups all-purpose flour (Or another type of flour may work also, but AP is most common to find scavenging)
1 cup sugar (Or an appropriate substitute baking sweetener)
1/2 tsp salt (Or not if you don't have it)
1 tsp baking soda
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Or not, if you don't like chocolate)
1/3 cup apple sauce (Or any light oil)
1 Tbsp white vinegar (Or apple cider vinegar or lemon juice)
1 tsp vanilla extract (Or imitation vanilla)
1 cup water (Or coffee or tea)

Mix everything together and put it in a 8x8 or 9x9 size pan (Or whatever you can find)
If you're making this for home use, I'd lightly grease the pan with something to prevent sticking
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes

As you can see from the above recipe, you can freestyle a lot of stuff on this cake and add in things, and still have a great finished product. I personally believe you could make this without sugar to create random bread-like savory products as well, if you want to get very creative for larps or festivals. If you make this cake though, I want to hear about it in the comments, or shoot me an email: larpmix@gmail.com

I wish you the best of luck here at the end, and may you always Adventure On!
