In this video, Maxx shows us how to make a simple gameboard and play Nine Men's Morris, also known as Mills, Merels and Cowboy Checkers. If you've played Assassin's Creed 4, you probably already know the game.
Playing non-genre games at a larp can crush the immersion of other players, and with a plethora of historic games that exist, there is no reason to play poker, Monopoly or Star Wars trivia during your medieval fantasy game. The two games I show in this video are just examples, so please do some research and find other games that you may enjoy more and use those in your game.
I also give suggestions on how to play these games for money and not have to add anything at all to your existing kit in order to play. With my simple board and token suggestions, there is no reason to not have access to these games at any time during a larp.
***Even though I show the basics of the games on here, I encourage you to research on your own. There are variants and alternate rules for the games, like "flying" that you should be familiar with. Not everyone may play exactly the same, since this game is ancient.***

The best part about these games is they can fit any genre, you can play them on a spaceship or in a cyberpunk cafe with etched plexi-glass gameboards, or in a post-apocalyptic bunker with a sheet metal board and some bolts or anywhere in between. If you make a non-medieval version of a Nine Men's Morris board, I'd love to see a photo on social media!
