You just need to enter the barrel before the game checks whether you've bought the move.
This also makes it possible to beat the game (With 101% completion) without buying any of Tiny's signature moves from Cranky (and without MMM). See: youtube.com/watch?v=YdvD7S0jP-c
Was tested on Emulator, confirmed possible on Console (Thanks to Adam Whitmore).
Similar principle to Rocketbarrel skip in Diddy Phase. Just 4x the amount of fun :^)
