Aren't AI skills just appended context? Mostly — but not entirely.
Skills are packages. They contain context, prompts and plain text, but you can also ship them with additional resources: scripts, or any software. At the end of the day they're still instructions telling your agent how to do something.
A harness is the other half. It's what takes a model and runs it in a loop — the scaffolding around the model that gives it tool calls. Claude Code is a harness. Codex is a harness. So are Pi, OpenCode and Hermes.
