On 2 January 1960, ITN’s Tom Barry spoke with boys visiting the Camping Exhibition at Olympia, asking for their views on when boys should begin wearing long trousers. Framing the discussion around boys “the same age as the prince”, referring to 11‑year‑old Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales.
