On 24 October 1968, ITN interviewed newspaper proprietor Rupert Murdoch as he discussed his growing stake in News of the World and his intentions for the paper’s future. Speaking about his planned 40% holding, Murdoch addressed questions about control of the company, his motives for investing, and the rivalry with fellow publisher Robert Maxwell. During the interview, Murdoch remarked, “I’ve got nothing against Bob Maxwell,” distancing himself from suggestions that his move was aimed at blocking Maxwell’s ambitions.
