Hoboken, NJ - On April 22, 2024, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Police Officers Ramon Calderon and Kyle Seper responded to ShopRite, 900 Madsion St., on reports of two shoplifters being detained by store security. An on-scene investigation found that the men, 25-year-old Jose and 29- year-old Edgar were seen putting 15 boxes of toothpaste and 19 energy-style drinks in a cart before trying to leave without paying. A search incident to arrest of Jose located a cylindrical glass tube commonly used to consume CDS and two metal push rods. A search incident to arrest of Edgar revealed a glass tube and two metal push rods. He was also found to have two plastic containers with white residue believed to be CDS, copper-colored wire, a silver utensil, and two metal push rods. Both were transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with shoplifting, and possession of drug paraphernalia. It was learned that Edgar had one outstanding warrant in Hoboken and one from Union City. Jose had three outstanding warrants in Jersey City and one in Hoboken. They were ultimately transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
