Apologies in advance, somehow the last part of the video ended up a bit crooked.
Abra evolves into Kadabra starting at Level 16. Until then, the only move it will naturally know is Teleport. It's a lot easier to use it now than it was back in the day due to the abundance of TMs, tutors, and the introduction of Egg Moves. And back in 2nd Gen you could teach it all three elemental punches which still counted as special attacks. So this guy has been a beast since day one. Not nearly as hard to get it to Level 16 as it is for Magikarp to get to Level 20 for Gyarados.
Once it becomes Kadabra, it'll start learning moves like Kinesis, Confusion, Psybeam, and Recover. But if you have a friend, you may want to go ahead an give it another power boost.
Kadabra evolves into Alakazam by trade evolution. You don't even have to be at a specific level or have a specific item. Just grab a friend and trade back and forth, or ask for a Kadabra on the GTS. Unless it is holding an Everstone, it should evolve when it finishes trading. Unlike other special evolutions, Alakazam will continue learning the same moves Kadabra would, so unless you can't trade or really like Yuri Geller there's really no reason to put off the final evolution of this line.
If you're playing Pokemon XY, OmegaRuby, AlphaSapphire, Sun, Moon, UltraSun, UltraMoon, Let's Go Pikachu, or Let's Go Eevee, you can take it a step further by letting it hold a Mega Stone called Alakazite. This will allow Alakazam to Mega Evolve into Mega Alakazam during battle for yet another insane power boost. But Alakazam has been good on its own too since Day 1, and I doubt that is going to change anytime soon. It has always been a reliable Pokemon.
Shiny Abra doesn't look much different than regular Abra, except maybe one covered in baking flour.
Shiny Kadabra is the same way, just a lighter color.
Shiny Alakazam finally looks a bit different, with a brighter pink/purple color for its "armor" bits compared to the brown regular Alakazam has.
Shiny Mega Alakazam takes note from this and seems to be even brighter in regards to the pink purple hues. The yellow part is similar to Shiny Abra.
