I'm repairing this video recorder for a friend. It was made circa 1968 and still works quite well. It definitely needs a new capstan belt though, which I hope to get.
There were two things wrong with it, a snapped capstan belt and the head drum servo wasn't synchronising to the video source. I probed around on the servo board and found a trace had gone open. Shorting it with a piece of wire got it working again.
This unit contains no integrated circuits, just germanium and silicon transistors and discrete components. This makes things a lot easier to fix, but also makes the unit very heavy.
