Onondaga County Sheriff Toby Shelley said a member of the SWAT team shot and killed a man during an armed standoff in the Town of Elbridge.

Speaking on Monday morning, Sheriff Shelley identified the deceased as Frederick Marty, 62. Shelley said Marty was barricaded at his residence in Rolling Hills Mobile Home Park and armed with a "long gun," meaning a rifle or shotgun, when he was killed by law enforcement.

Emergency crews responded to the mobile home park on Route 5 around 6 p.m. on Aug. 23 for a report of a man, Marty, shooting out of his home's window. A member of the sheriff's office arrived at the scene and confirmed that the shooting had occurred.
