By 1982, Shalamar had been in existence for five years, scoring with “Uptown Festival” in 1977. Changes in group membership brought about the most successful lineup of Jody Watley, Howard Hewitt and Jeff Daniel by the time of “I Can Make You Feel Good”, which was a track on the album, “Friends”.
“Friends” went to #35 on the US album charts. It was the group’s sixth album to make the charts. On 45, “I Can Make You Feel Good” went to #102 but in the UK it landed a lot higher, at #7. The “Friends” album also fared better in the UK, reaching #6.
