Here's the result of you completing the Dark Mission of GUN Fortress.
Shadow's mission of world conquest was almost complete. The final defense standing against him was not only the GUN Commander using Diablon but also Sonic, himself.
The GUN Commander reminded Shadow that he was responsible for getting everyone in Space Colony ARK killed. Shadow thought that he was made to bring order to humans, and that involved eliminating them as a punishment for their own sins.
He plans to defeat Diablon, and also Sonic, too!

Finally, a version of this boss that takes place in a completely different setting!
However, the fight itself is still pretty much the same.
- Use Sonic to reach Diablon's head.
- Diablon falls to the ground after enough damage.
- Build up your Dark Gauge and use infinite ammo to finish Diablon off.
Same as it ever was the last two times!

As Shadow gathered together all 7 Chaos Emeralds, Sonic, with what little strength he had left, begged for Shadow to tell him what he was going to do with those emeralds...
This is Shadow's Pure Dark - Dark resolve of who he is:
"I'm Shadow... the Hedgehog. I was created to bring order and justice to the humans. With the power of these Emeralds, I'm going to destroy this dam
This is *WHO I AM.*"
He then performed his evil laugh. The world was truly doomed. Black Doomed, per se. He became the Dark Messiah that Black Doom had intended him to be all this time...
Just like in Slightly Dark endings, the the Pure Dark ending theme is "Almost Dead" from Powerman 5000. A hardcore theme about giving a middle finger to life and death, Heaven and Hell. Throwing it all away as a being who believed that everyone was ready to die into nothingness.
The special weapon you win from this is the Samurai Blade. It has a very high damage output compared to other Melee weapons, but then just wait until you get to upgrade it
For now, I'm finally halfway through this game's endings. Now onward through the other half, which will have me repeat all five 6th stages again for different outcomes and upgraded Special Weapons!
