Carls493 | Decline's Drops Demo (Version 0.9) - Full Playthrough @Carls493 | Uploaded September 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
Yet another indie game that struck my curiosity... and one I most definitely feel familiar with.

But why...?

Picture Kirby, Fighter Kirby specifically. Now, change up Fighter Kirby's moves a bit, and then make him into his own playable character in Super Smash Bros. (or even Rivals of Aether), and then backport his Smash controls into a new Kirby game of its own.

That's Decline's Drops. By French company Moulin aux Bulles Studio.

However, instead of playing as a cute pink puffball, you instead play as a cute wooden puppet girl, sun clothes and all. Her name is Globule and she loves her garden.

But then... an evil force known as the Eternal Corp destroyed the garden. How did Globule respond to this?

Well... that's why she has those big blue boxing gloves for hands. She's gonna SMASH that Eternal Corp to pieces as revenge, and look completely adorable doing it!
----------

This "Version 0.9" demo was an update released on Sept 10th. It may be the final demo before its release, and swaps one level from the previous demo out for another.

A lot of controls in Decline's Drops match up with what you can do in Smash Bros.: Dashing, dash attacks, double jumps, tilts, aerials, and even Smash Attacks!

Globule can even put up a shield (more akin to Sonic Battle), and roll out of it. She can even air dodge Melee style, while still being able to attack afterwards.

Globule even has Special Attacks: Neutral, Side, Up and Down Specials. However, you need Linseed Points to use these. Beat them out of enemies and out of jars.

Globule also has some sort of special Smash Dash that can only be unleashed if you let her dash for long enough. It's a really powerful flying fist that can only be stopped by a wall!

Similarly, her Down Aerial increases power the longer she falls with it, like a Wario Land Ground Pound!

Last... but not least, because of how air dodging works in this game... *YOU CAN EVEN WAVEDASH!!!*
----------

After the tutorial stage, the first proper stage you can play is Former Fields. It's a pretty calm stage with the wonderful theme music to match, but watch out for a midboss halfway through.

Any collectibles you run into throughout this demo won't actually be kept, but at least you still get to see just what you can collect for Globule, such as the 5 Heart Pieces, not to mention all of the different sized and colored Drops. It looks like she eats Honey for health, and yellow health points can be extended into blue ones.
----------

The second stage I play here is one that was added for this version of this demo to replace a different stage: Webbing Waves.

Here in this more concerning darker, graveyard-looking stage, you get a bit of Sonic action as Globule can grind on rails. However, you can only grind in one direction and you can't change it until you're off of the rail. Yellow rails make you grind right, while purple ones make you grind left. All you can do is jump, twirl to attack, or drop down.

This game will also have underwater sections, which will instantly make Globule use a huge fist-shaped submarine that can torpedo itself into enemies.

Some Heart Pieces are released by knocking balls into a cage. Others are released from hitting a treasure chest in a certain combination of directions, while others still just have to be found and smashed free.

These levels can get lengthy and/or tough. Your checkpoints come in the form of cute fairies coming out of plants.
----------

The last portion of this demo is a main boss battle. The first boss of the game, it looks like.

First, you destroy an Eternal Corp contraption to draw the boss out. He seems to be a huge, two-headed farmer lizard, and he's quite steamed at what Globule just did.

Watch out for his different attacks: such as his bug spray and his thorn seeds, and he can spit minions to chase you, or even mow you down with a tractor.

However, you can stun him for a few seconds with one of those seed and get in some free hits.

As one more combat move, if you time your shield perfectly against an attack, Globule will automatically perform a destructive counterattack!
----------

Turns out the lizard was a robot. His head fell off... well, both of them.

But this was only the beginning, because no doubt there's more fiends like him for Globule to deal with, including their top boss...
----------

As the following trailer shows... this game is NOT ALWAYS gonna be all sunshine and rainbows. Just like the dual-deal with Kirby, himself, this cute wooden puppet girl is gonna kick (or just punch) some serious ass!

And you won't have to wait too long to help her with that! Decline's Drops... DROPS onto Steam on October 10th, 2024! Head there and wishlist it if you want to want a way to support Moulin aux Bulles Studio right now!
