I've had a decent amount of experience with new indie platformers lately.

As of this post, I had already finished a Capcom-like platformer in Berserk Boy months ago. I had more recently been covering a SEGA-like platformer in SomnaBuster.

For this game, Decline's Drops is more of a Nintendo-like platformer. Combining elements of games like Kirby, Yoshi's Island, and Donkey Kong Country together into a game that feels like a completely original take on Super Smash Bros.' Adventure Modes, especially Brawl's Subspace Emissary. It even also feels like it was inspired by modern Rayman games such as Origins and Legends.

I had covered its final demo almost a month ago already, but this is the full game. I had contacted its French developer Moulin aux Bulles (Bubble Mill) about covering it, and they were happy to give me an early access Steam Key.

There is indeed quite a lot of heart in this game. From its artstyle to its controls to its fantastic soundtrack.

Let me try to show you what I mean.
----------

Upon starting the game, you'll get a random line of inspiration. It can be from anything from professional artists, writers, poets, and even Bible verses.

Then, you start out in the forest for a tutorial, starting with waking up the heroine, a cute, living wooden puppet girl named Globule.

If you know how to play Kirby games and especially Super Smash Bros., you should get a good grip on this game's controls pretty fast, albeit they are simplified a bit so that all four of your face buttons have a different action.

- Globule can jump and double jump. She can also dash.

- Globule can use neutral and tilt attacks. If you tap a direction, you can even use smash attacks (and yes they are literally called that).

- Globule can use Special Attacks, but not for free. Each Special Attack needs a different amount of Linseed Points to use, and these can be gained by killing enemies or smashing through jars full of them.

- Globule has defensive and evasive maneuvers. She can block for a moment (and this is more like Sonic Battle's shield), roll, and she can use a multi-directional air dodge. It moves like Melee's, but you can use any attack afterwards.

- Because of the way air dodging works in this game, YOU CAN WAVEDASH!

Besides a normal dash attack, if you keep dashing in one direction, Globule will flash blue. Attacking from here will let you unleash a powerful Super Dash Attack!

After completing the tutorial forest for the first time, the game finally explains its story of why its cute, silent puppet has boxing gloves:

Globule was a puppet that lived by herself, far away from anyone else in her humble home. She loved to tend to her wonderful garden.

But then, a horrible plague-like substance appeared from the sky known as the Decline. It took the form of a dark cloud, and rained upon the land below, releasing 6 horrible heads that would form into a single being known as the Hydra. The Hydra would then split up into different being and spread their corruption across different lands.

Decline's Drops, its raindrops, would mutate all of the animals, and taint all of the plants. This pollution would eventually reach Globule's poor garden...

She realized that that enough was enough! In her sundress, her sunhat, and most significantly her blue boxing gloves, this puppet girl set out on a grand quest to defeat all of the forces of the Decline, avenge her garden, and clean the once-beautiful land of the haunted cloud's toxic raindrops...
----------

First off, you have a shop you can access that's ran by a monkey named Serge. I can't buy anything right now, but I'll take care of that soon enough.

You can also visit Globule's House. There's not much you can do here right now besides entering into the house and seeing her poor dead garden.

Whenever you’re ready, time to go defeat the Decline!
