This witch, which may or may not be Macy, had just finished her travel through Esperanto's Lumine Forest. She couldn't remember where she came from, but also felt like she didn't belong here, either.
She was then met by some kind of silly jester girl named Arla. She welcomed "Macy" to Esperanto, and claimed herself to be vastly knowledgeable about the world. She also decided on calling the witch "Dolores".
For one thing, Arla explained that Esperanto has a King named Martius that lives on top of the Jericho Tower. Anyone that can climb that tower can receive any wish they desired from the King.
Macy or "Dolores" decided she needed to travel towards that tower so that she can get a wish to return back to her home world.
This made Arla angry, as she was frustrated that the witch wanted to leave such a dreamy world already.

One level gimmick in Glowing Grotto are vines that are spawned from touching certain cards. Just Spinjump against them and the witch will swing and swirl through them to their end.
And speaking of cards, there are bigger cards that kinda look like Japanese Genesis (Mega Drive) cartridges in every non-boss level. These cards feature each and every character in the game (main characters, enemies, bosses, and even NPCs), and are apparently stored and collected by Arla, herself.
Even after getting one of these Character Cards, if you redo a stage, that same card will be a phantom copy, instead, so you still keep track of where you had to go to find them.
There's no indicator or hint of where you can find each of these cards, but they're always arranged by level and within the order they should be found within each level on a perfect run of sorts.
Every 1-3 "Act" (per se) of every stage in this game's 7 Worlds contains 3 cards each. That's 9 cards per World for a grand total of 63 to collect!

At the goal of this stage, the Forest Spirits are in distress as their Nobel Elder Tree's sap was being stolen by a nasty Spider Gang. This sets up the next level where "Macy"/"Dolores" enters into the tree to fight off these pests.
