Our beloved SVR reopens Monday 12th April following the most recent Covid lockdown. This video features one of the long standing favourites of the Bridgnorth to Kiddermister line - GWR "heavy freight" 2857 in OO Gauge.
First we see the grand old lady on a long, slow freight - exactly the type of work the class was designed for over 100 years ago. The second half of the video shows her looking equally at home on a pristine rake of chocolate & cream coaches - just as she does today on the SVR. The Neville Grove steel arch bridge was even inspired by the beautiful Victoria Bridge that carries the railway over the River Severn.
This is the cracking Hornby model that has been renamed and rebranded for Bluffers to Buffers as a souvenir of their visit to the Severn Valley last autumn where this loco featured heavily. The lads even did a video of their day out on the line which can be seen on their YouTube channel here: youtu.be/kRhT1PFRbCg
Extra polished weathering has been applied to replicate the look of a well loved working loco in preservation. The real 2857 is several years into her ticket now so is actually looking well used and nicely worn in areas. So the specification for this project included "generous dirt and plenty of polish".
