Can the super slow and smooth Rapido J52 get its lengthy freight through the station before a pair of rapid Thompson A2’s cross on the upper level?
Recently weathered and legendary Kings Cross shunter 68846 plods past the loco yard and through the platforms with a long rake of empty coal wagons.
The silky-smooth mechanism allows for a prototypical slow speed and has been matched to an archive sound recording of a struggling steam locomotive on a heavy load.
At the other end of the LNER spectrum, Thompson A2's are seen on shed and rattling along high above on the mainlines with expresses between London and the North.
A2/2 renumbered and named to 60504 'Mons Meg'
A2/2 60505 'Thane of Fife'
A2/3 renumbered and named to 60511 'Airborn'
A2/3 renumbered and named to 60518 'Tehran'
These are smooth running and powerful locos too, all four visiting from my customer, Lee Clarke, for weathering in the Neville Grove Studio.
