Why? Because the person harming you is playing weak and needy, saying all the “right” things to gain sympathy. And you're showing up strong because you’ve chosen to protect yourself.

To outsiders, it looks like they’re the fragile one and you’re the cold one. But that’s not the truth. They just can’t see it yet.
