In this video, Rafael reviews the Seiko SBSA009, an orange-themed Seiko 5 Sports that is made in Japan. This same style may be encountered under the reference SRPD59 when it is not manufactured in Japan. The differences between Japan and non-Japan model are minimal.

The Seiko 5 Sports SBSA009 is a stainless steel watch with a steel diver's bezel, black & gold bezel insert, orange dial, and full steel bracelet.
It appears that Seiko is going for formal & sporty with this design and it definitely achieves it, specially with this Specialist watch.

On the wrist, the SBSA009 looks great and more so with the full steel bracelet. While the bracelet makes the watch wear a bit larger, the size is not overwhelming, at least not on my wrist.
01:25 Case Dimensions & Details
"On paper," the dimensions of the SBSA009 (and the Seiko SRPD59) are 42.5mm in diameter, 13.4mm in thickness, 46mm lug-to-lug, and 22mm between the lugs (AKA the strap size.) In measuring these during the video, I found them to be quite exact.
02:10 SRPD59 Case Specs & Diver's Bezel
The SBSA009/SRPD59 has the traditional Seiko 5 Sports case in stainless steel with two finishes: The flanks and crown guard of the case are in high polish while the top side is in brushed steel. Where these two contrasting finished meet, the is a slight bevel that is also in a high polish. This bevel rounds off the case and gives it much softer edges throughout.
The bezel of this Seiko SRPD59 is in steel and is unidirectional. It has a knurled texture on its outside and a gold/black metallic insert.
This watch also has a scratch-resistant & shatter-proof Seiko Hardlex crystal protecting its face.

The SRPD59 has an attractive orange dial with a brushed sunray texture. Also on the dial are applied hold hour indices with white luminous fills. The luminous material here is green Seiko LumiBrite. There are also black minute markings surrounding the entire dial, printed on the rehaut.
The hands at center match the hour indices in that they are also presented in a polished, gold finish with white luminous fills.

Since this is the SBSA009 model, the watch is made in Japan. This feature is reflected by some small black printed text present on the dial under the 6 o'clock hour index.
As mentioned earlier, the differences between the SBSA009 and SRPD59 are reserved to minimum details such as this dial printing. However, the pricing may be significantly higher for the SBSA009 Japan version.
This SBSA009 has two languages for the day: English and Japanese (Kanji). The SRPD59 would likely have English and Spanish. The Saturday and Sunday are always in Blue and Red, respectively, regardless of the language.
08:25 Full-Steel Three-Link Bracelet
The stainless steel bracelet of the SRDP59/SBSA009 has hollow end-links and tapers gently from the case to the clasp. Like the case, the bracelet possesses the same finish: the top is brushed and the flanks are in high polish.
Since the lugs have lug holes, the bracelet can be easily removed and changed for another band.
The folding clasp is stamped steel but is nevertheless quite secure with a double-button "lock" as well as a fold-over component.
10:05 Seiko SRPD59's 4R36 Movement
Through the crystal caseback we can see the self-winding Seiko 4R36 movement that powers the watch. This movement has a 40-hour power reserve, +45/-35 secs/day accuracy, stop-seconds function, and hand-winding functionality (through the crown).
The movement has a simple brushed finish that is nevertheless attractive and a nice detail from Seiko.
Since the crown does not screw down into the case, the watch's depth rating is limited to 100m/330ft. However, the watch may also be wound through the crown when it is at position 0 so this is a very big advantage in terms of convenience.
