Bespoke Unit spent a relaxing afternoon of sea, sand, and sun with Nica Sail & Surf. Watch our video to see what an afternoon tour on their catamaran charter service looks like!
Arriving at the San Juan del Sur marina at 1pm, we were welcomed by the crew, which consisted of Gerardo, Byron, and Juliette. The excursion left shortly afterwards on Nica Sail & Surf's own 1999 Fountaine Pajot 38’ Athena catamaran called "Must B Crazy".
While we sailed down the coast, the crew provided us with ample refreshments and snacks from their open bar until we arrived at a secluded beach called Playa Blanca. Here, we were given the freedom to do whatever we wanted. Snorkels and fishing gear was free to use or we could just swim around, stay on the boat or sunbathe on the beach.
If you're fortunate, you can sometimes spot a variety of wildlife such as turtles, dolphins, and flying fish. Unfortunately, we didn't see any on this occasion. Better luck next time!
The Catamaran is equipped with a music system, which perfectly sets the mood for all the guests. Before heading back, the crew provided us with fresh snacks, which included locally-caught ceviche and homemade guacamole.
Carefully timing the return trip, we were able to watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean outside the San Juan bay. Although the half-day sailing excursion lasted a whole 5 hours, the experience was a whirlwind. Time flies when you're having fun!
Nica Sail & Surf offer two trips. You can either opt for the 1/2 Day Sailing Excursion like us or a full day. Full-day trips start at 11am whereas the half-day ones begin at 1pm. Meanwhile, both finish at 6pm in order to catch the sunset outside San Juan del Sur. A half-day trip costs $80 per person while the full-day is $120.
Although we enjoyed sharing the catamaran with other guests, private hire is also available. Similarly, you can plan multi-day trips with Nica Sail & Surf.
