This Seiko 5 Sports SRPD75 is sold on a very flexible and very shiny stainless steel mesh band. But perhaps no aspect of this watch is more important than its green metallic bezel and its sunray green dial.
00:43 First Look
This being the Japanese market version, it's also going to have a secondary reference, SBSA019. However, the differences between the two are minimal and probably reserved to just the dial printing. Mechanically and aesthetically, it is 99% the same as a non-Made in Japan model.
On the wrist, it's not a small watch by any means. Nevertheless, the proportions work very well. Particularly on this mesh bracelet which adds a bit of flash that you don't get on the other models and which is quite attractive.
01:31 Case Details
The case is your traditional Seiko 5 Sports or SKX case. It's 42.5mm in diameter. Thickness is 13.4mm. Not slim by any means, but it is a sports watch. Lastly, lug to lug is officially 46mm and lug width (strap size) is 22mm.
02:42 Watch Dial & Day-Date Function
The dial has a very nice brushed finish in military green that matches the bezel beautifully. The bezel is an aluminum insert with silver/metallic numerals. The bezel does not have a "lume pip," however, it does have plenty of lume on the dial. The applied indices are LumiBrite in bright green.
The watch hands have a brushed finish that offers a nice bit of contrast. There is also a contrasting minute track that's more of a cream color with black printing. The day-date window at three o'clock has black print on white background, also a nice contrast that makes it super easy to read.
This being the Japanese market version, it's going to have two languages for the daAs you can see, one of them is English and the other is Japanese (Kanji). Saturdays are in blue, Sundays are in red.
If you're wondering how to set the day, rotate the crown clockwise for the day and counter-clockwise for the date. Of course, the last position is going to be your time setting.
04:40 Crystal
The crystal creates a small channel between the bezel and the face of the watch. The material is Hardlex, so not as scratch resistant as a more expensive sapphire crystal, but nevertheless gets the job done.
05:00 4R36 Movement
Like all the Seiko 5 Sports models, this watch has a sapphire case back that lets us get a peek at that newly upgraded movement, the Seiko 4R36. That is a 41-hour power reserve, self-winding, hacking seconds movement. As far as accuracy, it is plus 45, minus 35 seconds per day.
05:40 Crown Functions & Water Resistance
This being the new Seiko 5 Sports, it's going to have a non-screw-down crown, which allows us to wind the movement through the crown. Clockwise is going to wind it, counterclockwise just spins freely.
Water-resistance due to that non-screw-down crown is going to be a hundred meters. That's just over 300 feet. Maybe some professional divers out there or some diving enthusiasts will find it to not be enough. I've yet to take a diving watch diving so this rating serves its purposes for me.
