A relatively recent brand, San Cristobal de la Habana was revived in 1999 and is named after both a company that existed before the revolution as well as Havana's old name. This 5 x 52 pyramid is produced using the Cuban entubado construction method.
01:48 Look & Feel
An elegant cigar with a few occasional bumps, it features a generally straight roll with a firm spring. The wrapper's colour is reminiscent of dark latte coffee or even hot chocolate. It delivers aromas of nutmeg, cinnamon and musty terracotta.

The initial draw can be a little tight but they can be loosened with a gentle massage around the plugged area. The dry draw aromas feature cinnamon, terracotta, and suede leather.

The first third produces notes of charred thyme, latte coffee, peanut skins. Meanwhile, the second third reveals curcuma, marzipan, and caramel. It also has an excellent burn, too. Finally, the last third will deliver notes of earth, nutmeg, and leather.

The La Punta starts off a little tight but it does open nicely as you progress. The temperature remains cool and while there is waviness in the burn line, the backbone is excellent.

Despite being a newer brand, the cigar has an overall traditional appearance. Its vintage-style band is elegant while the box echoes the same aesthetic. Pricing for a single tends to be around $11. Consider enjoying the cigar in the early to mid-afternoon. It's a great digestif choice following lunch.

The La Punta pairs well with savoury snacks but you could also accord it with sweet pastries. Consider also having it following a veal cutlet or other grilled white meat. Otherwise, drink suggestions would be Fine Champagne cognac, añejo rum, or even a Highland single malt. Needless to say, coffee is also a reliable option.
