Yes, the thumbnail is just Sonic 1, because I really am that effortless when it comes to doing thumbnails with longplays of games I've already replayed nowadays.
Probably like, over the 5th or so excuse for me to replay Sonic 1 and 2 again for sonicthegamer666, this time being on the modern SEGA Mega Drive & Genesis Classics collection which was released for PC, Xbox One, and PS4. And since I don't own an Xbox One or PS4, I usually play the PC version via the Steam Deck some of the time, which is technically the best version considering there's mod support.
What can I say that hasn't already been said about Sonic 1 and 2? Well, all I can really say is that they're emulated pretty good here, and they actually used the latest, fixed revisions (REV03 for Sonic 1, and REVB for Sonic 2). But well, the audio emulation is still a little off when it comes to official emulated compilations, since the goal post and water splash sounds are off. Otherwise, again, they still emulate almost accurately for the most part besides a bit of the sound flaws. And I do think D3T Limited did a better job on the emulation compared to Backbone Entertainment who did Sonic's UGC for the Xbox 360 and PS3, especially when it came to the sound.
One thing to note when ordering this compilation nowadays, is that SEGA delisted the Steam version on December 6th, 2024, so unfortunately you can't play it on PC anymore for newcomers of this compilation out there. However, it's still available for purchase when it comes to the Xbox One and PS4 versions, it just won't have Sonic 3 & Knuckles and the mod support like the Steam version does, which is still a little unfortunate but whatever.
