The sequel to the Sonic Xtreme flash game, which has no relation to the cancelled Sega Saturn game! The sequel is sorta an improvement in many ways, having more assets related to the Sonic series rather than the Mario series of the 1st game, plus it has more playable characters! I don't know if the unlockable characters save when the game is closed and reopened, but hey, unlockable characters are here regardless! But besides that, why would you even want to be playing this sequel?
In my opinion, I find it more challenging and actually, much worse than the 1st game! I played as Sonic for the first half of trying to beat the game as him, and god, this level design is just all over the place. It doesn't help that Sonic still dies in 1 hit and the rings don't get you extra lives when reaching 100, plus there's only one extra life in the entire game, so yeah this game certainly frustrated me compared to the 1st one.
I think the worst glitch in this game, is that sometimes when jumping to the far right of a tall platform, Sonic just dies for no reason! Like, WTF? That's what made this game much more rage inducing than it needed to be for me because of that issue, and that's not even the only issue! During the Tails half of the longplay (which by the way, was the only character I beat the game with), sometimes destroying enemies with Tails' tails causes them to get stuck in place and make the jump height much lower, making platforming impossible when that happens! But hey, at least it wasn't as upsetting as Sonic getting killed by safe platforms, but it still made me rage a little regardless.
And speaking of Tails, of course, he is the most OP character in the game, due to the floatyness after jumping lasting a long time, making levels pretty much a breeze to get through, and like I said, it was the only way I was able to beat this game, and no, I didn't bother with the other characters. Oh yeah, and there's no boss either, which honestly, thank god, because these levels already made me suffer enough as is, which at least suffering wasn't a problem with the 1st game.
And the music & sound effects are the same as the 1st game, even the Rings still make a Super Mario coin sound! Though there is the addition of Sonic's voiceline when he dies, which for some reason, applies to all of the characters in this game for some reason, making Tails have Sonic's voice when he dies in this game.
So yeah, while I do like the effort of trying to improve on the original by adding extra characters and levels, I felt like the 1st game had more charm due to it at least being much easier, plus the Super Mario elements made it more odd yet fun in my opinion. Though, even the 2nd game was nostalgic for me, due to being a part of my childhood along with the 1st game, so at least they're equal in nostalgia & childhood values.
