Scouting public land with Sean McVeigh from Sean's Outdoor Adventures in preparation for a hunt later this year. My digital scouting strategy focused on trying to find bedding in and around swamps and marshes. The boots-on-the-ground scouting then focused on looking for actual deer sign confirmation, food sources such as white oaks near bedding, and of course finding other hunter sign to avoid.

I took the entire day to try and find some more buck beds. This particular swamp has a big mix of tree types. There are spruce, tamarack, and some cedar. While there are some oaks, most of them are in the high ground and not very close to the bedding, with some notable exceptions.
