My Wisconsin turkey tag brought me through a bit of a journey. I started out turkey hunting at a reliable public land spot. The trouble is, you're at the mercy of where the hens want to go from the roost until the toms free up again around mid-morning. In an effort to try something new, I knocked on a few doors nearby. Most of the land in the area has similar features, so I have a good idea of how birds will use the land. After gaining permission on a nice piece of private ground that butts up to some tough to access public, I was able to call in a few birds to an 11:00 am set up.
