Turkey Hunting public land in Wisconsin. I set up on a ridge that was a good listening spot around a few locations where birds have historically roosted. I could already hear gobbling as I picked a tree to set up against. He was sounding off one ridge over, but it was too open to sneak any closer. After getting a response to some light yelps, I stayed quiet while the two toms spent the next 40 minutes on the limb. Just before fly-down I did some more aggressive calling which got their attention. 10 minutes later I heard them silently walking up the ridge, but they skirted about 70 yards downhill by the time they finally became visible. We played cat and mouse while they worked back and forth on a lower bench. After some more aggressive cutting and yelping with the mouth call, they finally broke and made their final approach. They still used the terrain to stay hidden, but the first one stuck his head out at 20 yards which was all I needed.
