Scientists have had enough. We have pasted the pages of the last Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) report and the one that we leaked to the press on the walls of the Spanish Ministry of Ecological Transition, along with scientists and rebels from Extinction Rebellion Spain.
After decades of warnings to governments, the scientific community remains unheard. Citizens have the right to know the truth, a truth that is catastrophic and that will inevitably lead them to take action on the streets. Political inaction condemns us to an apocalyptic future, and the only option is to join the rebellion for life.
The IPCC report makes it clear: the consequences of climate change are irreversible and we face the greatest challenge in our history. And governments are not acting as the emergency requires. The Spanish “Climate Change Law” is not enough and comes very late, and the “Citizen Assembly” proposed by the government will not be of any use the way it is planned.
That is why more than 20 scientists and academics have pasted the report and thrown paint on the floor in front of the ministry, exposing themselves to legal risks. There are no more options. It is our last hope.
We're already late. There's no time left. It is not enough anymore to investigate and communicate our results. We must join the rebellion if we want to be heard.
