A study of the relationship between Sandra and Carlisle
Sandra and the three other Queens arrive in Forks right before the Volturi attack the Cullens. There Sandra meets Carlisle Cullen, the vampire leader of the Cullen clan, and realises that she has to make him trust her if she and the others are going to be able to help him and his family. As her story is too long to be told, she links their minds together and shares her life with him. The bond remains intact after she releases his temples, however, and they find that they can hear each others' thoughts.
Sonya warns Sandra about the bond and points out that they do not know what sort of effects it will have on them. Sandra and Carlisle explore the bond in various ways and find out that they can feel if the other one is injured or in pain. This helps Carlisle get through the wall of the worlds when Sandra has her shoulder dislocated in a battle; he is then there to pull it back in place.
But in the next battle things do not go that well; Sandra is killed and due to this, Carlisle also drops dead to the ground. Somehow he regains life but he tells Sonya, who tries to help him get back to normal, that he feels as if his soul has been torn apart and he will never fully heal.
