STORYLINE: Caroline Forbes returns to her hometown (not sure if this would be set in Mystic Falls or Storybrook) after several years abroad and runs into her high school sweetheart; David Nolan. The two reunite but Caroline reveals that she has changed; while travelling she was turned into a vampire. David is not sure how to react to this and leaves her.
Caroline thinks back on the relationship she and David had before she left; their various dates, their bickering and flirting, and the fact that David proposed to her and she said yes (she still carries the ring he gave her).
David tries to get over the fact that Caroline is now a vampire and even kisses her, but realizes he is still not comfortable with it. Caroline says she understands; she is not the girl he fell for.
Over the upcoming weeks the two try to at least be friends, but their feelings get in the way and most of the time they're arguing or ignoring each other. Eventually David is the one to take a leap of faith and starts to act like he did back in high school, which surprises Caroline, but she soon falls into their old routine. This proves to David that even though she is now a vampire she is in fact the same girl he fell in love with and kisses her one more time. Caroline is surprised at his actions but David explains that he wants them to try to be together again, because he believes that they are meant to be. Caroline agrees and the two start their new life together.
