About this ship -
This is another ship from the irem arcade game Gallop.
Pros
- The red weapon is insanely powerful - at speed 1. It can be depowered and spread out at higher speeds.
- the blue weapon can open in an arc at lower speeds and focused at speed 4.
- the yellow weapon crawls around the floor and ceiling and the angle can get changed by adjusting the speed.
- the Wave Cannon locks onto enemies and won't let up until it's finished firing. Great for popcorn enemies and high HP targets that you're trying to avoid.
Cons
- the Wave Cannon is not super powerful but at least you don't have to aim it while firing.
- to get the most out of the weapons, you need to adjust your speed on the fly so it's worth it to get used to it.
About this stage -
This is a boss battle against Nonemayer in the Bydo dimension. You're trapped in the ring and it drops rocks all over you. Some of these bubbles contain POW Armors - you can see that I got fully powered rather quickly, but it's super dangerous. Once it turns into the slug with the tongue it drops acid from the ceiling and sticks it's tongue out to protect itself and attack you. This phase is far less dangerous.
My strategy in the main game is to put my Force on the back of the ship immediately and start firing to destroy the rocks and bubbles that fall. Starting bare? I had to use a ship that could protect itself - the Gallop ship being a great choice.
This is the first of the stages in the Final series where you get turned into a Bydo ship at the end. If you're using a human style R-Type, you'll turn into Bydo System Alpha and if you're using a Bydo style ship you'll turn into a Meltcraft.
This stage is reached by breaking the blue pegs on Fine Motion in stage 5.0. It carries you to 6.1 and then F-B.
Personal comment -
The music in a shmup has to be great, and Wavelink Zeal knocks it out of the park here. It's tense and outstanding. I love this stage's music.
