The early 'thrash' era was a wonderful time. It was delineated with raucous riffs, disorderly behavior, a carefree demeanor & a chilling unpredictability; AND, NO band better epitomized that mantra than Dallas/Ft. Worth thrashers, rottingcorpsethrash2! Formed in 1985 by guitarist, Walt Trachsler & John Perez (Solitude Aeturnus) the band built their dedicated (& diehard) fan base upon a series of underground demos which highlighted the band's propensity for speed, humor & wild onstage antics. Though the band officially disbanded in 1990, they would soon resurface periodically in the 2000's & even released a highly acclaimed 2008 documentary entitled, 'Circus of Fools'. Sadly, 2021 saw the passing of lead guitarist Luke Brewer, which in many ways refocused & reinvigorated the band to come out of the shadows once again, not only reuniting with John Perez, but adding the talents of guitarist, Scott 'Shelbeast' Shelby (Gammacide). With a NEW LP in tow, the demo compilation entitled, 'Thrash In Pain Or Die Insane' (released via Turkey Baster Records on June 1st, 2024), the band FINALLY returned for a HISTORIC (& commemorative) performance in Austin at The Continental Club. The RMW Crew decided to go up, chat it up with the band & ENJOY the night's festivities. SO, in the unruly interview you will see below we discuss the following: the band's reformation, Luke's memory, the significance of that night's show, playing with 3 guitarists, the new LP & future shows! Despite the chaos, it was an incredibly fun night & the vibe TRULY took me back to the bygone generation of the 80's. I want to thank EACH member of the band for accommodating us & being so gracious.
