New archaeological discovery! An excavation in the Cotswolds has revealed an extensive settlement established over 2,000 years ago. ⛏️
The site near Willersey in Gloucestershire dates from the Iron Age to the Roman period and includes possible evidence of a Roman villa.
Working with @CotswoldArchaeology who co-led the dig, we funded the excavation following the discovery of two Roman cavalry swords during a metal detecting rally in 2023. The swords have now been donated to the @coriniummuseum9059 in Cirencester by the detectorist and landowner.
