Robin to the Rescue C64 by Solar Software, Played from Tape
When I was eight years old, we got the ozisoft propack compilation tape for our c64, and this was one of the earliest game on the tape (it had 10 games on a single tape), and so I played it quite a bit and actually beat it back then. Having not sighted the game for nearly four decades, I'm giving it another go - everyone asserts it's so easy that you can't lose, but well, here I am losing a lot. Sure, my joystick doesn't help, but neither does the ropey collision detection and the pixel perfect jumps required.
Really, the game is just an early clone of Hunchback, and honestly it's not terrible for a 1983 game. It _is_ short, though - I think there is only 2 or 3 more screens than I got through in this play, and yeah, then it just loops... so on a budget pack of 10 games that was fine, but probably not so great if you bought it full price in 1983. But then, standards were different then, so... you have to judge it within its time. I'm not convinced you really should play it today, but.... look, I didn't hate revisiting it!
The version I owned had a different loader, because all of the games were very obviously frozen and had a colourbar loader, and this is the original instead.
