Rjukan-Notodden Industrial Heritage Site is an interesting UNESCO World Heritage Site in Norway. It's the location of two early 20th century hydroelectric power stations that were built to power artificial fertiliser factories. The process was developed by a Norwegian scientist and its legacy continues today, where a Norwegian government-owned company is the world's largest fertiliser manufacturer.
