The Mounded Tombs of Ancient Japan are a fascinating and unique UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in the city of Osaka in central Japan, these tombs date back to the 4th and 6th centuries AD. They're also quite peculiar in that they're keyhole shaped, with a high mound attached to a rectangular ditch at one end. And the largest tomb is absolutely colossal, one of the largest tombs in the entire world! It's so large, the best way to view it is actually from an aircraft arriving or departing Osaka airport - not quite in our budget, but come along as we attempt the next best thing!
