One of the most recognisable statues in the entire world, the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Statue of Liberty stands on Liberty Island in New York harbour. Constructed in the late 19th century to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, it was a gift from the American government from France.
