The UNESCO World Heritage site of Engelsberg Ironworks is a small factory complex in southern Sweden. During the 17th and 18th century Sweden was one of the world's foremost producers of iron products, and small scale production facilities like Engelsberg were the backbone of that success. There were originally hundreds of ironworks like this scattered across the countryside, but sadly most have disappeared. This was a very interesting little stop, as not only were the smelting and blast furnace buildings preserved, but some of the accompanying buildings too.
